The ETN (New Technical Study) and ATEC (Technical Opinion) are technical studies of compatibility between  given solar Panels and mounting systems . The technical evaluation is carried out by control offices and by Building Scientific and Technical Center which verifies critical points such as waterproofness, mechanical resistance, fire risk ... These opinions are often required by insurance companies prior to the completion of a photovoltaic roof project in France. Note that ATEC is a much more detailed study including laboratory tests (wind tunnel for example) which can last more than a year.
