"Potential Induced Degradation" is a phenomenon of severe deterioration in panel performance (15 to 30%) which has gained momentum in recent years. This loss of power is created by a potential difference between the panels in series and the frames of the modules connected to earth for safety reasons. This leads to the creation of a leakage current between the cells and the frame (or vice versa) and therefore a drop in performance of the panels on the + or - side of the string depending on the layout. Solutions exist today to solve these problems.
